Hello and welcome to the first instalment of Maya’s Monthly Love Letters. It feels touching beyond words, that you are invested enough in reading my ramblings to subscribe and go on this journey with me every month. I am a slut for making a big HOOHAH out of the little things, giving careful attention to beginnings and endings, and paying homage to the seemingly inconsequential and mundane. So this email is the grand intention one sets before stepping on the wonky road ahead. This is the ceremonial shot of whiskey poured out for loved ones lost, the flag jabbed in the ground, the love letter dramatically flung into the fire. This email is me marking with intention, the journey we are about to embark on together. And the intention is this:  I will show up here to write every month. You will likely read these words at some point throughout that month. In this exchange, we share some kind of quiet and gentle reciprocity. Which is to say, I wouldn’t be writing these words if someone wasn’t out there reading them. Which is to say, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.
